Adventures in April

April was a bit of a nerve-wrecking month, mainly focused around the preparation of Isaac's first big trip, flying to Michigan!  We took a lot of precautions to prepare, making sure we had his doctors' phone numbers, emergency nebulizer, medications, hand sanitizer, and plenty of Lysol wipes. We also focused on maintaining healthy habits in order to keep all of our immune systems strong.  Isaac helped out too:

He brushed his teeth every day.

He ate balanced meals, healthy snacks, and shared his leftovers with Otis.

He made sure everything fit neatly in our suitcase.

Finally, when the big day arrived, he traveled like a seasoned pro.

 

When we arrived in Michigan, our first stop was to visit Great Aunt Diana. He started the visit rather sleepy from his travels, but soon perked up, full of smiles, snuggles and dance moves.

Our next stop was to meet Aunt Beth, Uncle Dave, and his cousins, Molly & Brendan!  Isaac was fascinated with the kids right away, as they crawled around on the floor with him and showed him toys to play with. Before the day was up, he had decided that cousins are the best fun!

Saturday morning we went to cheer on Molly and Brendan in their soccer games. Isaac didn't quite follow the game, but he enjoyed dressing like Daddy, taking a nap in the sun, playing in the grass for the first time, and chewing on his toys.

That evening, we went to the church Mommy grew up in. Since Isaac had been baptized in the nicu when he was one day old, our old pastor and dear family friend agreed to do a baptism renewal during our visit, so that we could celebrate with family, friends, and Isaac's Godparents, Aunt Lauren and Uncle Ryan.  Isaac enjoyed the church service. He played quietly, bopped to the music, smiled at the people, and afterward, even got to eat some cake!

Sunday was Drebus Family Fun Day. Isaac dressed for the occasion, monkeying around with his relatives for a bit, before changing back into play clothes for his first ever family photo with Mommy's family.

It took a while to get everyone focused...

 ...but we finally got the job done!

 The weekend came to a close far too quickly, but soon it was time to pack up and head home.  Isaac dressed in layers to transition from the Michigan morning chill to the Florida afternoon heat.

A half-empty plane allowed us to spread out, giving Isaac his own seat to sprawl on, with no one seated in front to worry about kicking.  He smiled at the attendants, ate his snack during take off, then snuggled down with Daddy for a nice long nap.  Flying is fun, and family is fantastic, but vacation can sure make Doozers sleepy!
