Chapter 16: Week Sixteen

Sunday  6/17/12

Sunday started the week with Father's Day.  Aaron and Isaac got some quality cuddle time in, with lots of hugs.  Isaac even made Daddy and home made gift, by pooping all over his shirt, plus nurse Geri helped Isaac make some clay keepsake footprints to give to Daddy.

The surgeon looked at Isaac's hernias on Sunday and is hoping to schedule his surgery repair for Thursday this week.  The guesstimate is officially 2 weeks or less until he comes home; we just have to wait and see how it all plays out. :)

He's growing like a weed now and is starting to outgrow his preemie clothes.  We're enjoying a few more days in his preemie wardrobe before transitioning him to his big boy newborn clothes!

Remember when they were the same size?

Thursday's surgery was delayed two hours, but once they got him in, all went smoothly. They were able to do the spinal anesthesia, which means he can keep his cannula and doesn't have to go back on the ventilator. Over the next few days, he will have his carseat test, after which we can take the carseat to install; we will get oxygen installed in the house for him, we will received infant CPR training, do our overnight stay, and they're aiming to send him home on Tuesday!!! Any of these things could be delayed and set us back a day or two, but it's looking good for next week. This is such a whirlwind - we have a LOT to do this weekend! We're going to have a BABY!

  1. This might be a dumb question, but when he goes home, will he still have to wear the nose thing?
